THURROCK CENTRE FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING
Provides support to enable disabled people to live independent lives by providing advice, support and advocacy. The Charity also manages employment support projects enabling disabled people to become more work ready.
Financial health, per its FY2025 accounts
The accounts state that the charity reported a net movement in funds of £(12,184), resulting in total funds decreasing from £139,982 to £127,798. The trustees consider there are no material uncertainties regarding the charity's ability to continue as a going concern, citing sufficient budgeted income and reserves to cover the next 12 months. However, the trustees' report notes that the future remains unpredictable due to continuing funding shortages and the financial mismanagement of the local council.
What the accounts disclose
“The Trustees objective is to have a minimum of 3 months’ expenditure in reserve.”
“The Chief Executive sits as a Board Director of the Thurrock Coalition and a trustee sits as a Board Director of Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions CIC. These relationships are deemed desirable and essential for the fulfilment of both organisations’ objectives. Two fully independently managed organisations shared our office space and facilities, the Thurrock Coalition, and Thurrock Diversity Network (TDN). TDN is a network based, information sharing and campaigning organisation for disabled people and disabled peoples’ groups and organisations in the Thurrock area which operates from within the office accommodation of TCIL. The Thurrock Coalition has been formally adopted by Thurrock Council as the User Led Organisation for Thurrock, contracted to provide consultation and co-production services involving the disabled people of Thurrock, their carers and families. In February 2025, we were joined by Thurrock Citizens’ Advice Bureau in sharing the office space exclusively for 2 days of the week.” — page 6
