THE RESPITE ASSOCIATION

Registered charity 1193232 · accounts filings on the Charity Commission register

Since 2001 (we became a CIO in 2021) we have enabled Carers, who are ordinary people doing extraordinary things, to obtain a well earned break by funding an alternative Carer to act in their place whilst they have a break. Breaks can take the form of anything from enabling attendance at an evening class, a weekend break or longer. We also provide free week long seaside holidays.

FY2024

Financial health, per its FY2024 accounts

The accounts state that the charity held a small unallocated surplus of unrestricted general funding totalling £5,800 at year end, following a cash surplus of £4,261. The trustees note the precarious nature of income generation due to the financial crisis and have established a reserves policy targeting six months' running costs, though actual unrestricted reserves are significantly below this target. The going concern assessment highlights potential impacts from government benefit reductions and economic pressures on donors, though the charity remains cautiously optimistic.
