FITZ PARK
The Trust was formed in 1882 covering 28 acres of park land in central Keswick, Cumbria adjoining the river Greta. A new scheme was drawn in 1995 and management of the Parks is now the responsibility of Keswick Town Council as sole trustee.
Financial health, per its FY2025 accounts
The accounts state that the charity reported a net incoming resource of £209,626 for the year ended 31 March 2025, resulting in total net assets of £830,821. Per the trustees' report, unrestricted revenue reserves are £10,336, which is below the stated policy target of approximately £55,000, though the trustees note this is mitigated by a grant from Keswick Town Council covering running cost deficits. The charity holds significant fixed assets valued at £676,802 and maintains designated funds for future development and sinking purposes.
What the accounts disclose
“The Trust has unrestricted revenue reserves of £10,336. Ideally the level of reserves would represent 3 months of the previous year's running costs which is in the region of £55,000.” — page 6
“Keswick Town Council was conveyed the Park on trust for the people of Keswick. It is therefore a given that once democratically elected as a Town Councillor, the duty of Trustee forms part of that role.” — page 4
