Financial health, per its FY2025 accounts
The accounts state that the Group reported an overall deficit of £2,209k for the year ended 31 August 2025, driven by a decline in Apprenticeship revenues and restructuring costs. Per the Trustees' report, free reserves of £3,286k are currently below the minimum target of four months' operational costs, though cash and liquid investments remain sufficient at £6,564k to meet liabilities as they fall due.
What the accounts disclose
“The level of free reserves (ie. general funds excluding intangible and illiquid fixed assets) is £3,286k (2024: £4,728k). This is below the minimum target due to the decline in revenue, with the minimum target being approximately four months’ operational and administration costs which is within the four-to-six-month target range monitored on an annual basis.” — page 14
“The transactions between the Institute and ITEXT Limited, the joint venture referred to in note 10, are as follows: i) The Institute received income during the period of £267k (2024: £253k) being the covenanted 50% share of the pre-tax profits of ITEXT Limited and £20k (2024: £20k) rental income; ii) The Institute purchased publications of £188k (2024: £195k) from ITEXT Limited.” — page 49
