THE MILTON GLEE CLUB
We are a choir, and we sing. We perform 2 to 3 concerts a year at the Portsmouth Guildhall, and we perform a suitable work at a Church at Easter time. We also regularly perform charity concerts in aid of local charities such as the Fareham branch of the Parkinson's Society. We also give donations to local charities and grants to young people to attend a summer music school.
Financial health, per its FY2025 accounts
The accounts state that the charity reported a net deficit of £1,164 for the year ended 31 March 2025, with unrestricted free reserves standing at £19,455. The trustees consider these reserves sufficient to cover their stated policy target of one year's concert costs (£8,000) plus special concert reserves (£11,000). While the charity is currently in the black, the trustees note that a long-term business plan has not yet been undertaken.
What the accounts disclose
“The committee considers that the reserves should be maintained at £8,000 as fewer concerts will be held at the Guildhall. In addition, the trustees keep a reserve to cover the costs of visiting groups and a London orchestra for any special concert that may be planned, these costs amount to approximately £11,000.”
“The business plan to take us safely into the next 10 years has yet to be undertaken and it is to be hoped progress will be made in the next year.”
