Dodford Children's Farm
The Charity gives residential educational holidays to disadvantaged children from the City of Birmingham and the West Midlands. Children under nine years of age, some with special needs, come in small groups either with their school or parent(s). Founded in 1953, it has nine acres and many animals for the enjoyment and benefit of the children who have the opportunity to participate in their care.
Financial health, per its FY2025 accounts
The accounts state that the charity reported a net expenditure of £27,448 for the year, resulting in a decrease in total funds from £561,960 to £534,512. The trustees confirm that free reserves of £116,691 are below the stated policy target of over £160,000, which is intended to equate to two- to three-years' operating costs. Despite the deficit, the trustees maintain a going concern basis, citing adequate resources and no requirement for external funding.
What the accounts disclose
“Since schools book well in advance, it is considered that free reserves should equate to between two- and three-years’ operating costs. This should ensure that future commitments at any point in time can be fulfilled. This equates to over £160,000.”
“During the year ended 31 December 2025, an interest free short term loan was made by Graham Morgan (one of the trustees) during the year and has been fully repaid. The balance owing at the year end date is £Nil (2024: £Nil).” — page 20
