The JCR is a student-run organisation at Van Mildert College, Durham University; it represents their interests and supports their personal development and education through wider student experience activities such as sports, societies, events and our Outreach projects where our dedicated student-volunteers work in our local community and fundraise to sustain their activities.

THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION OF STUDENTS AT VAN MILDERT COLLEGE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY:3.1 PROMOTING THE INTERESTS AND WELFARE OF STUDENTS AT VAN MILDERT COLLEGE DURING THE COURSE OF THEIR STUDIES AND REPRESENTING, SUPPORTING AND ADVISING STUDENTS; 3.2 BEING THE RECOGNISED REPRESENTATIVE CHANNEL BETWEEN STUDENTS AND VAN MILDERT COLLEGE AND ANY OTHER EXTERNAL BODIES; AND 3.3 PROVIDING SOCIAL, SPORTING, CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND FORUMS FOR DISCUSSIONS AND DEBATE FOR THE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OF ITS STUDENTS.
