CLIPSHAM YEW TREE AVENUE TRUST
The Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue Trust (CYTAT) is established to maintain, care for and preserve the historic Yew Tree Avenue in the Parish of Clipsham in Rutland. We are raising funds to enable the Trust to professionally clip the 137 topiaried yew trees once a year, normally in September. In addition we select contractors to maintain the Avenue and the surrounding grassland including the hedges.
Financial health, per its FY2025 accounts
The accounts state that unrestricted cash reserves stood at £63,402 as of 5th April 2025, which the trustees believe is sufficient to fund maintenance and conservation activities for the next two and a half years. The charity received a £115,000 grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, with the first half paid in January 2025, supporting its long-term funding strategy. No material uncertainties regarding the charity's ability to continue as a going concern were disclosed.
What the accounts disclose
“Our financial policy is to ring-fence sufficient funds as soon as they are available for the main clipping project which is estimated to cost £13k to £15k each September. Maintaining the grassland, ditches and hedges is also an essential requirement and is estimated to cost a further £2,000 per annum at present day prices.”
