THE CARNEGIE HERNE HILL COMMUNITY TRUST CIO
CCT exists to develop a Community Hub in the Carnegie Library building at Herne Hill, south London, which is a beautiful historic building and a well-loved local landmark. With Lambeth Council support the Trust is working to repurpose the building as a sustainable, multi-use resource for all residents, centred on lifelong learning, arts & entertainment as well as general health & wellbeing.
Financial health, per its FY2024 accounts
The charity reported a net surplus of £4,776 for the year, with unrestricted reserves standing at £100,008. However, the trustees have identified a material uncertainty regarding the charity's long-term viability, as the potential implementation of full rent and service charges by the landlord could challenge the current operating model. Despite this risk, the charity maintains strong liquidity and continues to operate as a going concern in the short term.
What the accounts disclose
“The majority of this income derived from room hire (£77,429) and community café initiatives (£884)”
“While the charity retains sufficient reserves and cash balances to support operations in the short term, the introduction of full rental and associated charges creates a material uncertainty which may cast significant doubt on the charity’s ability to continue as a going concern beyond the next financial year.” — page 8
