THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL OF THE ECCLESIASTICAL PARISH OF SOWERBY, DIOCESE OF WAKEFIELD
The P.C.C.of Sowerby governs two churches and two social centres in an area to the west of Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire. We not only provide places of worship but provide facilities for a day nursery and many clubs who would not be able to meet if our premises were not available. We also provide pastoral support and give comfort to those who seek it.
Financial health, per its FY2024 accounts
The accounts state that unrestricted reserves are minimal, with the general fund deposit account standing at only £622. While the parish overall holds significant net assets, the financial viability of St. Mary's Social Centre is described as being in 'serious doubt' from the start of 2026 due to the loss of its anchor tenant. The trustees note that the current reserve position provides 'some leeway to deal with cash flow requirements but no more than that.'
